John HOWARD (b.1950)
John Howard was born in Glasgow in 1950, and is active as a composer, conductor, and music educator/theorist. He read music at the University of Durham (UK) and subsequently obtained his PhD there. His music has been widely commissioned and performed internationally, recent works including “There the Dance is” for the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, and the choral piece “And There is Only the Dance” for the 1999 NAC Choral Seminar. Until recently, he was Professor and Head of Visual & Performing Arts at the National Institute of Education/NTU, and is currently Head of Research & Manager of Examinations at the London College of Music.
