Tiap Guan, LIM

The late Mr Lim Tiap Guan was a well-known composer from the 1960fs.  During his early years he studied violin with Dirk Kalf and later joined the Lee Hao Choir Group and started teaching violin. In 1962, after graduating from Chong Cheng High School, he studied voice with his mentors Lee Hao and Zhu Hui Ling. In 1965 he received his LRSM from the Royal School of Music in London and became a conductor in the Chinese Orchestra of the Peoplefs Association where he continued to influence the development of Eastern/Western music. During the 1970fs Lim Tiap Guan concentrated on his personal tutoring and recording work. In 1980 he became an Executive member of the Music Composersf Society. During his career Lim Tiap Guan wrote many well-known compositions including, Lullaby, Mount Faber, The Place Where I Live and Cfest la vie.
