Aphorisms
Zulkifli Mohamed AMIN (b.1983)

A tersely phrased statement of general truth or fundamental principle usually expressed sententiously.

Aphorisms; not strictly programmatic music but rather an organised ambiguous musical interpretation of struggle, tension, fear and the secrets of creation of human being with regards to mother nature and the creator. This is an attempt to set up an imaginative scenario into a musical work indeed.

A fantasy-composition (my first major approach), the music is divided perhaps into three sections.  It was my primary intention to have a three-movement structure but soon abandoned it into a single uninterrupted whole. With this I can create a smooth momentum throughout without having to rebuild tension, atmosphere and climax at every movement or section.

It was also intentional to create ambiguity in the creation of my music, usually unexplainable in order to allow my listener to freely associate.  I try not to be restricted by compositional ideas (as what it should turn out to be, eventually) but to reach the highest degree of individual imagination...

Aphorisms is dedicated to The Late Brother Joseph McNally-Founder of LASALLE-SIA college of the Arts. Also to Mr. Eric Watson for his philosophical thought towards music.
