Translated
as gThe valley of the bellsh, it belongs to a collection of five piano
pieces called gMiroirsh (Mirrors) composed in 1904-05. Ricardo Viñes
gave the first performance of the set in January 1906. Each of the five
movements is dedicated to one of Ravelfs friends.
La
vallée des cloches
is dedicated to Maurice Delage who was a pupil of Ravel in the early 1900s, and
then became one of his closest lifelong friends.
