La Vallée des Cloches (from Miroirs)
Maurice RAVEL (1875-1937)

Translated as “The valley of the bells”, it belongs to a collection of five piano pieces called “Miroirs” (Mirrors) composed in 1904-05. Ricardo Viñes gave the first performance of the set in January 1906. Each of the five movements is dedicated to one of Ravel’s friends.

La vallée des cloches is dedicated to Maurice Delage who was a pupil of Ravel in the early 1900s, and then became one of his closest lifelong friends.
