A Legend from Yao
Darence, LENG

In the early 1950's Liu Tie Shan and Mao Yuen composed music inspired by traditional songs and dances unique to the Yao people, a minority tribe from the provinces of Guangzhou, Yunnan and Guangxi in China. Darence Leng arranged a Legend from Yao for wind orchestra for the National University of Singapore Symphonic Band on their first European tour in 1993. Darence uses the er-hu and the dizi, which brings out the colour, serenity and energy of the Yao people.
