Dai Zhonghui

Dai Zhonghui has held the position of Principal Trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra of China for the past eight years. With this orchestra, he has played in Germany, England, Austria, South America, Japan, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and more than twenty cities in mainland China. He joined the faculty of the Central Conservatory of Music in 2002, and was the Trumpet Professor, Head of Brass and the founder and Director of the Central Conservatory Brass Ensemble. He was also the Conductor of the Central Conservatory of Music Symphonic Winds Orchestra. Dai Zhonghui is nationally acclaimed as a performer and brass instructor.

As Principal Trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra of China, Dai Zhonghui has made five CD recordings with Philips Recording Company. As a soloist, he has appeared with several orchestras in the USA and China. In addition, he is frequently invited to perform as a soloist for studio recordings for movies, television and commercial work in Beijing. As an educator, he has made two albums of CD recordings and two sets of video recordings for educational purposes with three top recording companies in China. His students have won positions with major orchestras in China and Europe, and some of them are scholarship winners at music schools in the USA, Europe and Russia.

Dai Zhonghui received his Master of Fine Arts in Music from the International University in San Diego and studied seven years at the University of Southern California School of Music. In 1990-1991 he was awarded a trumpet fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center and the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute. His teachers include Thomas Stevens, Charles Schlueter, Susan Slaughter and Rob Roy McGregor.

He serves as vice president of Chinese Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles and is a member of the International Trumpet Guild Board of Directors.
